Nature's Changing Colors and Honoring our Selves

Hi Reader,

Fall is upon us with a shift in busier schedules (which hopefully are finding some rhythm), the new changes of nature's color each day and also the seasonal reminder to pause & slow down. It seems like the trees are changing on an hourly basis this week! Do you have a favorite tree or spot that you’ve been watching? One of my favorite quotes is from Andy Warhol,

I, like many of you, am feeling that if I don’t intentionally schedule in my own workout, rest practices and joy routines, they just fall to the back burner... Everything else then seems like it’s more urgent or pressing. But the truest truth is that taking time for ourselves - tending to our own needs, fulfilling our desires, making sure we have our own space for joy and connection - are the most important practices, especially when life is jam packed and the news cycle can feel like an onslaught.

This doesn’t mean we need an hour for ourselves everyday, because for many of us that’s a luxury we don’t have... But it does mean we can find one minute every day, hopefully 5 minutes another and then maybe 20-40 some others. Sometimes it’s just following 5 breaths, other times it’s a walk without your phone or maybe it’s sitting and having lunch with your favorite podcast or a friend.

When we prioritize this time for connecting to our needs, our Self, we might just feel a little more rooted, a little more able to sway in the literal and proverbial breeze (or windstorm) of life right now.

If you’re having trouble slowing down or you’re feeling like you are craving a simple grounding practice, check out this 5 minute routine with 3 practices to find your roots. And if you’re craving a longer practice to slow down and deeply rest, check out these upcoming offerings:

Take the Night Off: Restorative Practices the 3rd Friday of the month - upcoming this week 10/16 & November 11/20 6:30-7:30pm

Yoga Therapy: Breath and Core Restore - Wednesdays 11/4, 11/18, 12/2 12-1pm
