High Summer Musings and Offerings 🌞

Hey there Reader,

Checking in, how sustainable is your summer feeling? As we hit peak summer and the start of August, sometimes the excitement turns to exhaustion and burning the proverbial candle at both ends rather than feeling joyful and relaxing. Last month, I introduced some Ayurvedic principles and practices to find more balance in this season of fire and water - hello humidity!! Read back through the previous newsletter to refresh yourself on the tips offered.

Personally, we have taken our first camping trip as a family of four, had family visiting and I’m almost done with a multi-year garden expansion project! Some days I feel really balanced and rest before I hit my limit, while other days I’ve pushed myself too much... What's consistently keeping me feeling the equilibrium is:

  • being in water (rivers and lakes so far with a trip to the ocean next week!);
  • prioritizing body work, recovery based movement and rest - my favorites are laying in the hammock midday on weekends, reading in bed before I go to sleep or when I wake up, and not filling up spots when clients cancel;
  • staying hydrated - for me the key is having an electrolyte drink with magnesium citrate daily;
  • letting some house chores go, because we can’t do it all... so, I’ve had clean laundry on the couch waiting days to get folded, floors that don’t get mopped or vacuumed as often, and piles of toys that aren’t tidied.

How are you finding balance in peak summer mode? Reply right to this email - I would love to hear from you!

Or maybe you're struggling to find that ease and could use support - or you're interested to learn more about what a real recovery practice can look like... There's still room for drop-in students to the Roll & Recover class series on Wednesdays from 12-12:50pm. Drop-in is $30/class and you'll get a recording of the yoga nidra we finish each class with! We all know the sun is at its strongest from 10am-2pm, this lines up exactly with Ayurveda naming this window as peak pitta! So join us midday for a slow down and cool off physically and mentally to bring into practice "opposites balance."

Read on for more upcoming events and opportunities to connect! I'm finding so much joy in returning to teaching group classes and workshops. This work and these practices are my passion and I'm finding a rhythm that feels really fruitful. See below for offerings this month and what's coming in September. I hope something coming up sparks something for you or someone you know.
